Harken XD Vang primary line only for 16mm “Air ” secondary block – Laser / ILCA

This is intended for use with the Harken 15:1 Vang system where the Harken 25mm “High strength” block is in use in the  upper assembly & with the Harken 16mm “Air” double block with becket as the secondary block.

In truth there is very little difference between the 16mm “Air” block & the 18mm block that replaced it in terms of performance, although sailors do have their preferences. However, it is quicker & easier to change the lines on the 16mm “Air” block.

The primary line, proportionately the highest loaded line on a Laser/ ILCA,  is spliced Dynema D12 for strength & security.

When choosing the primary colour consider that lighter colours are easier to mark than darker colours if using a permanent marker pen.

NB If you are using the Harken XD vang arrangement with a 16mm “Air” secondary block consider carrying one of these as a spare part.
