Ronstan “Orbit” 25mm, Single & becket with lash head

This block is the newest addition (5/2025) to the Ronstan “Orbit” range of blocks & would seem to be ideally suited for use on a Laser/ILCA as both a deck block & in the outhaul system.

At 25mm it sits midway between the group of smaller blocks (Harken 16/18/22mm, Ronstan 20mm, Allen/Holt 20mm & PolarWave 18mm) most of which are possibly a bit too small overall with narrow “throats” & the group of larger blocks (Harken 29mm, Ronstan 30mm, Allen/Holt 30mm & PolarWave 29mm) which are possibly all just a bit too large.

As with the other “Orbit” blocks the body is constructed of glass reinforced nylon with a proven two-stage bearing system.

They are low friction whilst being strong, robust, reliable & durable.

Strictly speaking they should be rigged with lines through the hub but even with the reduced break load of 500Kg for not doing this they are plenty strong enough.

1) As a deck block – When fitted to the Laser/ILCA deck block plate with the Ronstan wide “D” shackle this forms a reliably secure attachment  whilst keeping the line reasonably close to the deck to pass under or through compass mountings.

2) As a block on the outhaul system – Being a bit larger with a comparatively wide hub & throat makes attachment  easier whilst also potentially reducing friction.
