Rudder, MegaBolt – Laser

For the Laser XD rudder head the plastic bushing arrangement with its small pivot bolt was replaced by a large diameter stainless steel bolt, nylock nut & washers. This benefit of this simple upgrade is two fold:

1) Eliminating the plastic bushing results in a stiffer rudder assembly & a more precise feel to the steering.

2) The rudder blade can be held much more firmly effectively giving the choice of either a fixed rudder or a pivoting rudder.

With the pivoting rudder option the MegaBolt enables the friction between the rudder head & the rudder blade to be adjusted so the blade stays in the raised position reducing potential issue when lunching & recovering.
